Developed by Kristen Wendell's lab, Design Keeper is a Google Slides-based digital engineering notebook that helps students track their projects from initial ideas through final designs. Organized around a card system with cards for Ideas, Tests, Final Designs, and more, it's built to be flexible and non-prescriptive, growing alongside students' work. Originally developed as an iPad app with NSF funding (grants 1316762 and 1623910), the project shifted to a slides format so teachers could use it without any additional software. Research on its use in classroom settings found multiple ways it supported student discourse.
